Movie Colors is a tool to analyze usage and changes of colors in motion pictures. As a video production company we know colors are a very important part of communication and how color changes affect the way audience assimilate and react to movies.
Movie Colors is strongly inspired by the work of interaction designer Charlie Clark.
How it works:
Given a video file th script extracts frames from the movie and saves it in memory.
Three methods are then used to analyze the frames to etract colors. Median simply calculates the median color of a frame using aluminance treshold.
Vibran light and vibrant dark both extract the more "prominent" colors in the darkest and lightest range of the picture.
After the extraction is done another script generates a picture that represent a single line of a solid color for each frame.
